Devotional
Have you ever wondered what makes a person truly righteous in the sight of God? For centuries, men sought righteousness through the keeping of laws, performing of rituals, and doing of good works. Yet God had a greater plan from the beginning. His righteousness is not merely about His perfect standard—it is about His gracious way of making us right with Himself.
The Law and the Prophets pointed forward to something far greater: the revealing of God’s righteousness through Jesus Christ. This righteousness cannot be earned by our efforts or good deeds. It is not about being “good enough” or “religious enough.” It is a gift—freely given through faith in Jesus Christ.
This gift is offered to all people, without distinction or partiality. Every person has sinned and fallen short of the glory of God, yet God prepared a way for all to be made right with Him. His righteousness comes by faith, not by our striving. This truth brings hope, not despair—for God has not left us to find our own way, but has made a clear path through Jesus Christ.
Bible Verse
“But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God.”— Romans 3:21–23 (KJV)
Reflection Question
What does it mean to you that righteousness is received through faith rather than earned by works?
Quote
“How can you go into a Christian church today when the Bible is so clear? I can show you over and over again in Scripture that salvation is through faith in Jesus Christ.”
Prayer
Father, thank Thee for revealing Thy righteousness through Jesus Christ. Help me to rest in the truth that I am made right with Thee not by works, but by faith. Fill my heart with gratitude for this gift and help me share it with others. Amen.
